Josh Phillips, Head Coach, 2004-present
Josh has coached at Independence since its inaugural season in 2004. Originally he was the head coach of both the boys' and girls' teams until becoming the father of two daughters! Josh grew up in Ohio before transitioning to Boston, MA for college. Prior to his tenure at IHS, he coached both the boys' and girls' for 2 years at Page High school (Franklin, TN). Josh holds a USSF National License and is a Boston College alum where he earned a B.A. in History and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration. He is married to Stacy and they have two beautiful daughters.

Jeff Pierce, Assistant Varsity Coach, 2013-present
Jeff has experience coaching at multiple levels including his current tenure at the Tennessee United and prior at Tennessee Soccer Club. He holds a NSCAA National Diploma, USSF National "D" License and a AYSO Youth License. He is married to Theresa and they have four wonderful children.

Eric Bossman, Assistant Coach, 2016-present
Eric has over 15 years of experience playing and coaching. He played for Charleston Battery (USISL National Champs, A-League) and Spartanburg Methodist College. He currently coaches at tenure at Tennessee Soccer Club and a TN ODP coach. He holds a USSF National "B" License and is married to Tracy and and they have three wonderful children.

Shane Smith, JV Coach, 2015Coach Smith left Independence after one season to pursue the head coaching responsibilities at Fairview High School in Fairview, TN. Before moving to Tennessee, he served as the Men’s Varsity Head Coach for the Silver Creek Raptors (Longmont, CO) and the Varsity Head Coach for the Rampart Rams (Colorado Springs, CO).

Paul Ridler, Assistant Coach, 2008-2010, 2012
Paul's coaching resume shows both experience and diversity. He has
coached at Independence since 2008 and played for the Army Squadron
in Germany while serving in the British Army. He holds NSCAA Advanced
National License and a USSF Goalkeeping License. Paul has coached for
various Clubs over the last decade including TNFC, Brentwood Soccer Club
and Tennessee's Olympic Development Program.

Kris Schneider, JV Coach, 2008-2011
Coach Schneider left Independence to pursue the head coaching responsibilities at
Summit High School in Spring Hill, TN. She is happily married to her husband, Chris
and is the proud mother to their daughter Ava. For four season she successfully built our
JV program around a core set of expectations with the hope of turning athletes
into well rounded individuals with high expectations of themselves and their teammates.
